The Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts, Senator Alston, announced in 2001 that Project Angus digital signature certificates issued to businesses by Australian banks will be accepted by Commonwealth agencies.
Project Angus is a major project involving the rollout of digital signature certificates to businesses by Australian banks. The ANZ, Commonwealth, National Australia and Westpac banks have joined together to establish a framework for e-commerce trust, authentication and payments that is interoperable with worldwide banking systems.
Speakers from NOIE and Project Angus outlined the function and operation of Project Angus and its relationship with the Commonwealth's Gatekeeper and Australian Business Number-Digital Signature Certificate (ABN-DSC) strategies.
The seminar concluded with a question/answer panel discussion.
