Strategic Advice on e-Government
The Department of Finance and Deregulation, through the Australian Government Information Management Office (AGIMO), provides high-level strategic advice on the technology-enabled transformation of government services and administration for the Australian Government.
AGIMO communicates e-government strategies to external stakeholders and disseminates information and knowledge sharing to Australian Public Service (APS) staff to assist ICT practitioners.
Initiatives include:
Review of the Australian Government’s use of Information and Communication Technology
The ICT Review will examine and report on the effectiveness and efficiency of the Australian Government’s current use of information and communication technology (ICT).
2006 e-Government Strategy
The 2006 e-Government Strategy, Responsive Government: A New Service Agenda, charts how the government is building on the momentum and achievements in e-government to date, and moving towards the vision of a connected and responsive government by 2010.
ICT Governance Committees
The Secretaries' Committee on ICT (SCICT) is a strategic decision-making committee for whole-of-government ICT use by the Australian Government. The SCICT's agenda is informed and supported by the Business Process Transformation Committee(BPTC) and the Chief Information Officer Committee (CIOC).
Australian Government Architecture
The Australian Government Architecture (AGA) aims to assist in the delivery of more consistent and cohesive service to citizens and support the more cost-effective delivery of ICT services by government. The AGA Reference Models form the basis of a common language between agencies and structure a repository of architectural artefacts (including standards, guidelines, designs and solutions) that may be utilised by agencies to deliver an increasing range of Whole of Government services.
ICT Skills
AGIMO is researching and developing programmes to improve the attraction, recruitment and retention rates of ICT professional employees within the Australian Public Service.
